Hey Everyone,

Yes it’s me – I know it’s been quite a while since there has been an update on the “What’s Up” page but, lo and behold I’m gonna get one off before we leave on our short east coast run starting next week.

It seems like every time I write I’m coming off of some kind of surgery. This past winter was really hard on me as my left hip started giving me trouble. I thought arthroscopic surgery would prevent me from having to have a full replacement but I was wrong and eventually had the hip replaced. The two months in between were some of the worst of my life. I can only think of two other times when it was comparable. I’m glad to be on the other side of it now and “getting’ better all the time”.

I just came back from a two week vacation in Hawaii (the Dr. said it would be good for the recuperation … just kidding) with 14 of my family (from 8 months to 64 years). We had a great time. I was able to keep up with everyone for the most part and am feeling “ready for the road”.

Our church celebrated its 25 year anniversary in May and it was very special for me to have my dear friend Al Perkins (who took the time to share the Gospel with me) for that weekend as well as several of my pastor friends. It’s hard to believe I’ve been pastoring for that long a time – wow.

I have finally finished editing the “live” CD – The Richie Furay Band “Alive” that we recorded in December and it should be available on the website in the next couple of weeks. The plan right now is to have for the east coast run as it is in production even as I write. Trying to work on it, sorting out four hours of recording and dialogue with all of the other things I’ve had going on was a challenge. Then trying to coordinate different schedules, well, all I can say is I’m glad it’s getting “wrapped up”. It will be a double CD with 27 songs on it. And I hope those of you who hear it enjoy the music and maybe it’ll bring back some memories of our “visits” with you.

With that let me sign off here asking for a little help. I know the days in which we live are challenging to all of us and there are many groups competing for the concert ticket. Some of our shows are a bit slower this year than last year and with a only a week or so to go, I’d just ask for a “grass roots” effort to get the word out that we’ll be coming back east.
Hope to see you many of you on this “run” and where ever else out travels take us this year!

Richie

PS - the Buffalo Springfield book is back in print and on the website!
