I was unaware of the story and it struck a powerful chord w/me. I have been struggling to find meaning to my life and a quiet peace. I have struggled with drugs and despite a wonderful wife and daughter seemingly am missing something that has caused unhappiness. I realize now that what I am missing is the lord in my life in a dominant way and not just window dressing of church on Sun. Richie's story was an epiphany for me and I realixe there is a greater purpose. It's amazing that Richie still can reach people even if it is by way of Poco. If I hadn't gone last evening I wouldn't have even thought about a Richie Furay website (sorry!). It does seem that the lord does indeed work sometimes in mysterious ways. I am going to use the inspiration of Ricjie's story to put the lord where he belongs and trust that he will put me where I need to be. Reading the words and looking at the photo gallery it is clear that peace and happiness are the reward for giving the lord a chance. Thanks Richie for not only the many yrs of entertainment but for also adding another notch to your holster as another potentially saved person. Anyway, the music on the site sounds as fresh as ever. In 1974, my husband bought the Souther-Hillman-Furay band 8track; the first quadrophonic 8 track for our brand new quad system. I hadn't heard of you before then, but I loved the album. 25 years later, after my husband and I were divorced I was saved at Tucsn Calvary Chapel. I heard you were a Christian when I heard "In My Father's House", and shared with my ex husband. I know that God moves mysteriously, and Isaiah 55:8 is one of my favorite verses to lean on when I don't understand. Jeremiah 29:11 as well. Anyway, I'm very glad I could use your music to witness to my ex husband; both he and his 2nd wife have accepted Jesus as their savior too - I believe the year was 2005. In the 60's I remember cruising in my brothers's 57 Chevy muscle car listening to Jefferson Airplane (one of the only 8 track tapes he had). In the 70's I remember watching 'In Concert' for the Allman Brothers (I switched from guitar to bass because of Berry Oakley) and seeing 'Poco' play and thinking how great you guys were and being puzzled as to why I hadn't heard of Poco before and then did not hear of them again. I was in great bands who played in many popular night clubs regularly in Hollywood but never made it big. We opened for 'Van Halen' of which opened for 'Eulogy' whose guitar player was from my home town where we jammed along with all the other local musicians. He, Rusty Anderson has been Paul McCartney's regular guitar player for years. It used to make me so mad how so many bands we played with who had a fraction of our talent made it big (Berlin, Van Halen)and many others. When I became a Christian in 1975 I realized God didn't want me in that environment. God had better plans for my music. We, 'Glory Beat' were constantly playing, prisons, juvenille halls, Brigs, Hospitals, Christian Coffee houses, Elderly Care facilities, public parks, churches, etc. We were very busy spreading the word of God. If it wasn't for God I would have either been dead (spent a year in the hospital from a motorcycle accident that happened right after I was saved).It was a miracle I wasn't killed like Duane Allman and Berry Oakley). (I Went to Melody land to see all the old Christian bands because it was closer than Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa) and saw all the old bands like the Way, Love Song, Daniel Amos, etc, but my favorite was always Andre Crouch. Thank God I didn't become famous because I am blessed beyond my wildest expectations. I met a great Christian girl who was there for the early days of Calvary Chapel and we now have two great boys. I was never happy before I was a Christian but never could figure out why. I dated a beauty queen for years and had everything the material world could offer but after a big night I would sit in my room and feel so alone. It got to where I'd feel alone with all my friend around. Once I met God and Jesus my emptiness vanished and an excitement for life I had only had by artificial means before emerged. I watched all your videos on Youtube and read your story on the web. They're bothe great and inspiring. Bye.
