I've got a story for you. I'm 57 now, but when I was in junior high my sister saw Poco at Gustavus Adolphus College College in St. Peter Minnesota and just loved the concert. I bought Poco's first album and was blown away. A good friend of mine who was a rock musicologist told me " I can't believe you found a great album I didn't know about already". Then he, another buddy who was a bass player in my band (I'm a drummer; picked up most my style from Mark Craney, currently working as an age-management doc) went to see you at the college in Brookings, South Dakota as that was pretty close to home in Sioux Falls. The acoustics were lousy but I loved the show, particularly "Hurry Up" and the "Tonto De Nadia Regresa" jam. My only disappointment was I was expecting to see Jimmy Messina there (and I thought I saw him on stage just before the band came out). After the concert, we three went to get a bite at a fast food joint called King's, and there you all were. I wanted to tell you what a great night it was listening and seeing you all, but Cotton flashed a "leave us alone" sort of look and I changed my mind. I was a spirt-filled Christian already and when I got home I had this huge urge to pray for your salvation (I spent at least a half hour on it) and also Jimmy Messina's. I don't know whee Jimmy's heart is now, but the first time I saw "I've Got A Reason" in the record shop, I was absolutely thrilled. To know you became a pastor just adds to it. Since you are getting to enjoy a reprise of some of your past right now, I thought this story (all true to the letter) would be a blessing to you. I hope the September tour includes a place I can get to so I can listen and see you again. CSN came through Amarillo Texas where I now live, just a few miles from where JD Souther went to high school, but I've never had the chance to see Neil play. Thank you for "Kind Woman." I knew it was a special song at age 14, and I'm not surprised you're still with the woman for whom you wrote it. Thanks for bringing your all, bringing your sincerity and energy to the performance of every song. Your voice is like a part of my DNA. No band ever meant more to me than Springfield.
