(1975) Trouble in Paradise was the last album by SHF. Each member was already moving on with different parts of their lives. Richie specifically befriended Al Perkins, a born again believer, and Richie soon began a personal relationship with Jesus. Souther-Hillman-Furay’s second album continued in the tradition of country-rock. Many hold this album equal to the first one. With the loss of Jim Gordon and the direction of each of the frontmen, SHF disbanded. Souther, Hillman, and Furay would all persue their solo careers following Trouble in Paradise.

FOR SOMEONE I LOVE

Written by: Richie Furay

Maybe just a little more time when the winter snows
Melt and it’s spring and who knows
I hope the sun is a shinin’ and you ain’t a pining’
For someone you love
‘Cause ain’t it just about right when you get a night
And there’s starlight above
Yeah and moon’s comin’ over your shoulder
And oh how you wanna hold her, un – huh

Well love is just in bloom
Move over and give Him some room, let Him take us
To places unknown, there’s more to be shown and soon –
When You’re wonderin’ what we’ve been doin’

Well, maybe just a little more time, when we really do
Believe in each other through You
Lord, take us by the hand
So we understand the meaning of love
We’ve grown so far apart, with no where to start
Or tried to think of
The peace we could come to, to see why
The answer is simply we just try

And see love when it’s in bloom
Ah, move over and give Him some room, let Him take us
To places unknown, there’s more to be shown and soon –
When You’re wonderin’ what we’ve been doin’
Well maybe just a little more time –

ON THE LINE

Written by: Richie Furay

The story’s true I’m in love with you, I’ve fallen I realize
Maybe you will, and maybe you won’t
But a dreamer will always try
Holdin’ back, ain’t we done that, and then say that’s how it goes
Well later on when the words are a song
A feelin’ of love I suppose

Come on and lay it out on the line and you know that I will
You and the way that you love me – what a thrill
Ah, you’re my lady, my woman oooh but still
You’ve got something all your own, in the world it’s called free will

You know I can’t deny you what comes inside you –
No, I never ever would
But it’s hard believing you’re not receiving
All of God’s love that you could

Come on and lay it out on the line and you know that I will
You and the way that you love me – what a thrill
Ah, you’re my lady, my woman oooh but still
You’ve got something all your own, in the world it’s called free will
