(1964) The Au Go Go Singers’ first and only release They Call Us They Call Us Au Go Go Singers, featured the nine-member group performing various folk standards of the time. The group consisted of Rick Geiger, Roy Michaels, Michael Scott, Jean Gurney, Kathy King, Nels Gustafson, Bob Harmelink, Stephen Stills, and Richie Furay. The musical goal of the Au Go Go Singers was similar to that of The Serendipity Singers and The New Christy Minstrels, however there are two standout performances on this album. First, Stephen Stills’ vocal and arrangement of “High Flying’ Bird” showed off his soulful young voice. Second, Richie Furay’s performance on the folk ballad, “Where I’m Bound,” introduced the world to the vocal talent who would soon be the lead singer for some of the most influential rock groups of all time.
