(1973) Crazy Eyes marked the end of “Furay” era Poco. Before the album was even released, Richie was concentrating on his next musical project, however, fans could have not asked for a better follow-up to Good Feelin’ To Know. The entire album is solid from start to finish. Richie’s contributed two songs. “Brass Buttons” was written by Gram Parsons, and Richie’s version is truly captivates the listener. It just so happens that the title track was penned by Richie about Gram Parsons. The epic song “Crazy Eyes” was never performed live by Poco. However, the Scott Sellen was able to convince Richie to try performing it live with the Richie Furay Band.  Currently “Crazy Eyes” is a staple of Richie’s live set. It was from this album that Richie would move on to Souther-Hillman-Furay.

CRAZY EYES

Written by: Richie Furay

I got a feelin’ about you love,
Who’s been foolin’ who,
Crazy Eyes, I been a foolin’ you

You sing songs about brass buttons and
Shiny silver shoes
Crazy Eyes, what did you to lose

Down among the South Carolina pines you spent
Most of your life-time in deep thought

Then changes come about and you find the time you spent
Wasn’t quite reason for being bought

So now to be or not to be,
Is the question now
Crazy Eyes, don’t you forget how
‘Cause I’m use to seein’ your face in the crowd
When you thought you saw me
Crazy Eyes, blind as you can be

LET’S DANCE TONIGHT

Written by: Richie Furay

Slippin’ away headin’ out to L.A.
Gonna sing in the city tonight
Tonight

Slippin’ away headin’ out to LA gonna sing in the city tonight
This rock & roll feelin’ has got my head reelin’
A feelin’ I know that is right
So come on, Let’s Dance, Let’s dance

And maybe if you’d like, we could be just like
Old friends that new friends could like
Cause only a few do what you can sure do
And only a few do it right
So come on Let’s Dance, Let’s Dance, Tonight

Just let me take you dancin’, dancin,
In the moonlight, the summer night, what a night

And baby while we’re dancin’, dancin’
Take my hand, ain’t love grand from where we stand

Oh Baby while we’re dancin’, dancin’
With every song the night grows on, but we’ll hold back the dawn

And someday when we’re dancin’ dancin’
We’ll remember then, the feelin’ when

We were slippin’ away headin’ out to LA ….
